What to Expect

The primary portion of the Bethel Pathway is a one-mile, paved, multiple-use trail winding along the Androscoggin River just at the edge of downtown Bethel.

The trailhead for the trail is Davis Park, located at the intersection of Route 26 (Weeks Mills Rd) and Parkway Road, where there is ample parking, picnic tables, and toilet facilities. A smaller parking lot off of Route 2 next to Dunkin Donuts can also be used to access the trail..

The Bethel Pathway is the ideal place for a safe, easy walk in Bethel. The Pathway winds along the river and over a covered bridge; past a popular skateboard park, playground, and community basketball court; and over the Androscoggin River before changing from pavement to an uneven surface into the woods. There are several places to stop and rest on a bench, and the pathway is an easy place to amble and while away an hour or so.

The uneven surface sections of the pathway to the west and east of the paved trail are poorly marked and end abruptly at the edge of the woods. Few people venture here, but if one does, the rewards are a beautiful woods walk, and a stroll through agricultural fields with striking views of the surrounding valley.
